These unconventional reservoirs can transform the global energy market through advances in reservoir characterisation, drilling, and completion technologies. Reservoir characterisation and properties have a great influence on the exploration and development processes; it is not through a single discipline that a full description of the reservoir characteristics can be obtained, especially for unconventional reservoirs. Moreover, unconventional sources can be defined by their difference in the intrinsic of their geological settings, origins, and tapping mechanisms, thus having different methodologies for exploration, production, and development methods.
